Investing with a Plan

My Fees, My Process, and How We Get Started -by Darin Kight

Working Together

When someone reaches out about working with me, the same two questions usually come up:

What does this actually look like?
And how do you get paid?

Let’s start there.

What Working Together Looks Like

This is an ongoing advisory relationship focused on one thing:
making smarter decisions with your money over time.

We build a strategy around:

  • - where you’re going
  • - how much volatility you can handle
  • - and how taxes impact your outcomes

From there, everything connects. Investments, planning, and decisions all move in the same direction.

My role is straightforward:

  • guide your allocation
  • help you stay disciplined when markets get emotional
  • and keep your portfolio aligned with your long term goals

Some clients are just getting serious about investing.
Others are managing accumulated wealth, approaching retirement, or navigating a liquidity event.

Regardless of where you are, the goal is the same:
bring structure to your strategy and manage the portfolio that supports it.

I keep my practice intentionally focused so accounts receive consistent attention and clients receive thoughtful guidance.

How I Get Paid

For advisory relationships, I’m compensated based on assets under management.

The fee starts at 0.25 percent per quarter and decreases as your assets grow.
As your portfolio increases, your effective rate comes down.

Fees are deducted directly from the account each quarter.
If you prefer, you can pay them separately.

Most clients are managed within a Strategic Asset Management account.

  • Minimum to start: $10,000

If you’re not there yet, we can still begin the conversation.
In some cases, a brokerage account is a good starting point while building toward a fully managed relationship.

The Process

1. Discovery

We start with a conversation.
Your goals, your current setup, and what you want your money to do for you.

2. Organization

If we move forward, I help clean up the structure.

That often means:

  • identifying scattered accounts
  • reviewing old employer plans
  • coordinating transfers

The objective is simple:
one coordinated strategy instead of disconnected pieces.

3. Investment and Planning

Once everything is in place, I build and manage your portfolio.

Planning and investing are handled together so each decision supports the bigger picture.

4. Ongoing Guidance

We stay connected.

As your life changes, your strategy evolves with it.
My role is to keep you focused on the long term path and make adjustments when needed.

The First Step

If you’re considering working together, the next step is simple.

We have a conversation.

No pressure. No obligation. Just a chance to see if this makes sense for you.
